Perth Man Admits he Fell From Bike, After Bali Bashing Fundraiser Raises $24,000

Perth Man is Seriously Injured

Bali police have filmed a Perth man saying he was injured falling from a motorcycle, after an online fundraiser stating he’d been “mugged and bashed” raised $24,000.

In a GoFundMe fundraiser, a friend of Lachie Hunt’s claimed the 22-year-old was “bashed pretty good” in Kuta earlier this month.

“Our little mate Lachie Hunt has had a bit of an accident sounds like he was mugged and bashed pretty good, he can’t remember much, I’m in contact with his mum,” the friend wrote.WAtoday.

“He is getting the best care but the best care is bloody expensive, so asking if you are able to help out in any way to dig deep, it would go along way and mean a lot to the family.”

The fundraiser was made to help pay the hospital bill and garnered widespread media attention before sparking an investigation by Indonesian police.

Seated next to his mother, Melissa, in a video posted by Bali police this week, Hunt admitted he was injured falling from his bike.

fd

“I had an incident in Bali due to falling from a motorcycle,” he said.

“I had lost my memory for two days due to concussion.

“I was in hospital for six days … due to the injuries that I suffered from.”

Hunt went on to describe the media reports based on the GoFundMe page as “incorrect and twisted” because he hadn’t responded to requests for comment from Australian media outlets.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Denpasar police said Hunt crashed a red Honda Vario scooter about 4am on January 12, citing a witness claimed Perth man was heavily drunk.

The rider swerved when he passed speed bumps, falling off and being knocked unconscious, the witness allegedly told police.

Police further alleged Hunt told them Perth man would have been drinking before the crash.

Hunt told them he felt like he’d been pushed by an unknown person but no longer remembered what happened, according to police.

Police blamed the crash on drunkenness and found no evidence of robbery or abuse.

His mother, Mel Hunt, told 9News Indonesian police were corrupt and she still believed he was “beaten and robbed”.

The Gofundme page has since been deactivated, and Gofundme is still liaising with Ms Hunt about the donated money.

Command R Not Working on Mac? 6 Ways to Fix it

Most operating systems these days have started incorporating the recovery mode that helps repair computers in dire times. For Mac users, Command + R is the appropriate button configuration to access this mode. However, sometimes, this combination fails to work, and users are not able to enter the recovery window.

In many such cases, the Command + R key combo is not used in the right way. Plenty of users fail to get the button timing wrong entirely. However, there are also other factors that we will discuss below.

Table of Contents

Why Enter the Recovery Mode?

Recovery mode, as the name suggests, is a startup window that can be used to ‘recover’ your system. It can be accessed while your computer is booting up.

Mac users mainly use this mode to restore their Time Machine backup or reinstall the macOS entirely. Other than this, you also have the option to access your browser to get help from the Apple server and enter Disk Utility to fix your possibly corrupted hard drives.

Why is My Computer Not Entering Recovery Mode?

There might be various different reasons why the Command + R button configuration is not working on your device. So, including the factors mentioned above, here are all the reason why your computer is not entering the recovery window:

  • Incorrect method to enter recovery window
  • A malfunctioning keyboard
  • Corrupted NVRAM data
  • Hard disk issues

How to Fix Command R Not Working?

Now that we’ve covered the reasons Command + R might be failing to work on your system, the fixes for this issue are listed below, with a couple of different workarounds as well.

Try Again but In a Correct Way

The first thing you can do when you are not able to access the recovery window is to try to do so one more time. So, this time, make sure you press Command + R the right way.

  1. Turn off your computer.
  2. Press Power button to turn on your computer.
  3. As soon as your system begins to boot up, hold Command + R.
  4. Leave these keys only after you see the recovery window.

This might take a while, so just keep holding the keys and hang on tight!

Ensure That Your Keyboard Has Not Malfunctioned

A simple explanation for you not being able to reach the recovery window might be that your keyboard has malfunctioned. Or at least, some of the keys might have gone bad. So, try using a different keyboard on your computer and hold Command + R during startup.

If you’re using an iMac, make sure the keyboard is plugged in firmly. And, if your keyboard is paired wirelessly with the system, try to disconnect and re-pair it. For this,

  1. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
  2. Click on the Bluetooth option.
  3. Now, Turn Bluetooth On.
  4. If your keyboard is on the list of paired peripherals, click ‘x’ to unpair.
  5. Then, turn on your keyboard.
  6. When the keyboard is visible on the window, click Connect to re-pair it.

Perform a First Aid

The recovery window is accessed through your bootable drive. So, if your hard drive is corrupted, naturally, the system can’t boot into this mode. However, to overcome this issue, macOS has incorporated the First Aid feature.

First Aid is used to check your disks for signs of errors. And if possible, it also tries to fix those errors. It’s pretty simple to run a First Aid test on your mac, and here’s how to do it:

  1. Turn on your computer.
  2. Press Command + Space to pull out the Spotlight search.
  3. Go to Disk Utility
  4. Select your bootable volume from the sidebar.
  5. Then, click on First Aid
  6. Finally, hit Run start first aid.

Reset NVRAM

NVRAM is a non-volatile memory. That means that even if your computer is not powered on, the contents stored in the NVRAM do not get erased. These are usually your system’s information and other core macOS data.

So, whenever you encounter a problem with your application software or its interface on your computer, it’s always a good thing to reset NVRAM. This replaces the corrupted files with a decent one and can hence fix your problem.

For users with M1 Macs, every time you restart your computer, the NVRAM is automatically reset. However, for T2 Mac users, the process is a bit different. And here’s how you do it:

  1. Shut down your computer.
  2. After it has turned off completely, press Power button.
  3. Then, as soon as the screen starts to illuminate, press and hold Command + Option + P + R.
  4. Hold these keys until your computer fully starts up.

Use a Different Key Combination

Command + R is not the only key combination to enter recovery mode. There is yet another similar button configuration that performs the same function; takes you to the recovery mode. However, the extract combination is a bit different for T2 mac users and M1 mac users. Nevertheless, the steps are shown below for both of these hardware.

On T2 Mac

  1. Shut down your computer.
  2. Press Power to turn it on.
  3. Now, hold Command + Option + R keys.
  4. Hold these keys until you see a spinning globe or the Apple icon.

On M1 Mac

  1. Shut down your computer.
  2. Hold the Power key until you see the startup options.
  3. When prompted, choose to enter Options.
  4. Click continue and hit your password to access the recovery mode.

Access an Alternative Recovery Window

If none of the aforementioned steps worked, chances are that the recovery partition of your system has gotten corrupted. In such a case, you can enter an alternate recovery window.

The alternate recovery window is different for T2 and M1 Macs. The process to access them is totally different as well. However, we have listed steps for both of them down below.

On T2 Mac

For T2 Macs, when the normal recovery window fails to load, you can enter the Internet Recovery Mode as a substitute. The only difference between these two modes is that the Internet Recovery Mode is accessed via the Apple servers instead of your disk drive. So, here’s how you reach this mode:

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Wait around 10 seconds before doing anything.
  3. Then, hold Power + Command + Option + Shift + R keys.
  4.  Keep holding these buttons until you see the spinning globe.
  5. Finally, connect to the internet.

On M1 Mac

For M1 Macs, however, there is an alternate mode known as the Fallback Recovery Mode. This model is stored secretly on your disk drive to be used in case of major boot issues. According to Apple, it’s a “second copy of recovery OS kept for resiliency.” So, here’s how to enter the Fallback Recovery Mode:

  1. Shut down your computer.
  2. Press the Power key once and quickly release.
  3. Then, immediately hold the Power key again.
  4. Keep holding the key until you see the Apple icon.

Apple Keyboard Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It

It’s pretty impossible to complete your daily task if your keyboard is unresponsive. For mac users, a misbehaving apple keyboard causes a whole lot of problems, mainly because there are not many alternatives available.

Usually, an apple keyboard malfunctions due to a corrupted keyboard preference file. Either that, or it might be just a simple case of misconnection. Nevertheless, a suitable settings configuration generally gets the Apple keyboard working at its best.

So, here in this article, we have made a list of all the fixes and workarounds to help you solve this issue of your faulty Apple keyboard.

Table of Contents

Why is My Apple Keyboard Not Working?

Before we go straight to the fixes, let’s first try to understand what caused your Apple keyboard to malfunction in the first place. So, along with the ones listed above, here are all the factors that might influence your keyboard to not work:

  • Misconnection
  • A dead keyboard battery
  • Mouse keys
  • Corrupted preference files
  • Corruption from recently installed applications
  • Corrupted SMC data
  • Dirty keyboard
  • Outdated OS

How to Fix a Faulty Apple Keyboard

Restarting your computer and also your keyboard should be the first action you take whenever it malfunctions. Usually, rebooting the system can fix these minor computing issues by reallocating resources during startup.

And if this doesn’t work, you can follow all the steps listed below until one of them solves your problem.

Check the Connections

Before you dive into more technical fixes, it’s important to ensure that your cables are connected properly and in the right port. Also, if you always connect your keyboard to the same port on your computer, try switching the port and see what happens. If you find that your keyboard works on one port and not on the other, the problem might be within the ports.

And, if you use a wireless keyboard, make sure that it’s paired correctly to the system. Moreover, try to unpair it and re-pair it with your computer. For this,

  1. Click on the Apple menu.
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Choose to view the Bluetooth option.
  4. Then, Turn Bluetooth On.
  5. If you see your keyboard on the list of paired devices, click the ‘x’ symbol to unpair it.
  6. Now, power on your keyboard.
  7. When your keyboard gets discovered on the Bluetooth window, click on Connect to re-pair it with your system.

Check the Keyboard Battery

Another reason your keyboard is not working might be because it’s out of battery life. This applies mainly to iMac users who use the wireless magic keyboard. If you have not plugged in your keyboard for a while now, we recommend you to do so and charge it.

However, there is a way to check the battery level of your keyboard, and here’s how:

  1. Connect the keyboard to your system.
  2. Click on the Apple menu
  3. Go to System Preferences
  4. Choose to view Keyboard settings.
  5. Navigate to the Keyboard tab.
  6. At the bottom of this window, you’ll see the battery percentage of your keyboard.

Disable the Mouse Keys Option

If you have the mouse keys option enabled on your system, your keyboard will not be able to comply with its default workflow. The mouse keys feature lets you move the cursor around the screen using your keyboard buttons. So naturally, this disables the keyboard from typing.

Hence, to avoid unwanted confusion, it’s best to disable the mouse keys option and see if it fixes your problem. For this,

  1. Click on the Apple menu
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Choose to view the Accessibility settings.
  4. Select Pointer Control from the sidebar.
  5. Navigate to Alternate Control Methods.
  6. Make sure the option to Enable Mouse Keys is not selected.
  7. While you’re at it, select Keyboard > Hardware from the sidebar.
  8. Do not Enable Slow Keys

Delete Your Keyboard Properties Files

Your keyboard’s properties files store your user settings and customized keyboard options. It also stores individual profiles and other appropriate data in XML format.

However, the properties files are known to get corrupted as well. And in such a case, deleting these files can fix your problem. But keep in mind that doing so will delete all your custom settings, including the shortcut you might have set or the keyboard layout you’re familiar with. Nevertheless,

  1. Open Finder
  2. From the menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder
  3. Type in and enter ~/Library/Preferences.
  4. Right-click on com.apple.keyboardtype.plist and Move to Trash
  5. Now, from the dock, right-click on the Trash Bin and select Empty Trash
  6. Reboot your computer.

Remove Recently Installed Applications

If you noticed that your Apple keyboard failed to operate properly after installing a new app, chances are that this application is in conflict with your keyboard processes. So, through various forums, we came to the conclusion that backtracking and deleting recently installed applications could fix your malfunctioning keyboard issue. For this,

  1. Open Finder
  2. From the left sidebar, click on Applications.
  3. On the ribbon menu, click on Sort By
  4. Choose to sort by Date Added
  5. The applications are now listed on the basis of the date they were installed on your system.
Delete the recently installed applications and see how your keyboard behaves.

Clean Your Keyboard

More often than not, specks of dirt and greases inside the keyboard prevent it from working efficiently. The key presses might fail to register, and the keyboard might fail to be recognized altogether. And if that’s the case, the only thing you can do is clean the keyboard.

For this, you can use compressed air to clean off the dirt from tight spaces. Then, wiping the keys with a piece of microfibre cloth damped in Isopropyl Alcohol (70%) should do the trick. However, we do have a dedicated article on cleaning the keyboard keys. So, if you want to, you could check it out as well.

Reset SMC

The SMC (System Management Controller) makes sure your hardware components are working as intended. So, whenever you have hardware issues on your computer, you could reset the SMC, as it’ll very likely fix the problem you’re facing.

As for keyboards, the SMC makes sure that the keyboard keys are registered, and the indicator lights illuminate as you want them to. So, to reset the SMC,

For M1 Chip Macbooks

  1. Shut down your system.
  2. For Macbooks, close the lid for around 30 seconds.
For iMacs, keep it turned off for nearly around 30 seconds.
  3. Turn on the computer.

For T2 Chip Macbooks

  1. Shut down your system.
  2. Unplug the AC cable.
  3. Hold left Control + left Option + right Shift keys for around 7 seconds.
  4. Then, without leaving this key configuration, hold the Power keys for around 7 seconds.
  5. Turn on the computer.

For Macbooks With No M1/T2 Chips

  1. Shut down your system.
  2. Unplug the AC cable.
  3. Hold left Control + left Option + left Shift + Power buttons for around 10 seconds.
  4. Turn on the computer.

For Macbooks With Removable Battery

  1. Shut down your system.
  2. Unplug the AC cable.
  3. Remove your battery from the back panel.
  4. Now, hold Power key for around 5-10 seconds.
  5. Re-attach your battery.
  6. Turn on the computer.

Update macOS

If none of the above methods work, you could resort to updating your entire operating system. Although this may seem farfetched, a new OS update has been known to incorporate new features and compatibility patches on your computer. These patches could be the key to getting your keyboard working at its full capacity. So, to update your system,

  1. Click on the Apple menu
  2. Go to About This Mac.
  3. Choose to perform a Software Update.
  4. This automatically prompts your system to scan for new system updates.
So, if it returns a list of updates available for your device, click Upgrade Now to update your computer.

10 Coolest Items in Cyberpunk 2077 and How to Get Them

If you’re reading this right now, either you’re curious, just getting into the game, replaying it, or you’ve seen “Cyberpunk: Edgrunners” and want to try your hand at being a mercenary. Either way, here are some of the coolest things you’ll want to get in the game.

1. Replica of Johnny’s Samurai Jacket

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

Johnny Silverhand’s jacket is perhaps one of the most sought-after items in the game. It’s basically the main clothing seeing as it’s in the game cover itself. You’ll get 200 armor with it and one clothing mod slot.

To get it, you’ll have to progress with quests involving Rogue Amendiares, particularly the one titled “Chippin’ In.” Rogue is one of Silverhand’s exes and the best fixer in Night City. You’ll find her hanging out at the Afterlife.

2. Military-Grade Aramid Netrunning Suit

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

In a world where netrunners are just as important as trigger-happy mercenaries, a top-tier military netrunning suit is among the most desired clothing items. Depending on the tier, you can get up to 172 armor points with it, as mentioned by GameRant.

You can get this by completing an NCPD scanner hustle in Little China, or you can wait for it to appear in one of the clothing stores located in Charter Hill or West Wind Estate. You’ll have to revisit the stores every day to see if it’s available.

3. Chaos

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

Chaos is an iconic pistol you can pick up when you choose to get in a fight with Maelstrom in the “The Pickup” quest. Make sure to loot Royce once you kill him as he will have it on his person. Did I mention that it changes stats every time you reload?

4. David’s Jacket

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

If you’ve seen “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” on Netflix, then you’ll probably want to have this jacket. It has two mod slots and can be found southwest of Dam Viewpoint. However, you’ll have to finish the “Over the Edge” quest first before you can get it.

5. Cottonmouth

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

This electric melee weapon can be acquired in the quest called “The Space In Between.” It’s one of the quests you have to go through to find Evelyn Parker. Once you get to the clinic of a ripperdoc named Fingers, you can find it in his bed (and even beat him with it to avenge Evelyn).

6. Skippy

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

Skippy is a smart pistol that you can find in a random alleyway in Vista Del Ray next to a dumpster. He will be next to a corpse if that makes you find him easier. You’ll not only get a gun but a fun interaction with a firearm integrated with an AI.

7. Plan B

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

Plan B is aptly named since you can use it once you run out of bullets. Instead of ammo, the pistol will cost you one eurodollar per shot. It’s easy to miss the gun if you don’t explore. Go back to the landfill where Dexter DeShawn was shot by Takemura, and you can get the gun from his body.

8. Legendary Monowire

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

When you’re in northern Kabuki, look around near the building of a pharmaceutical and look for a storage unit. You’ll find a free monowire and a few eddies as well. It can deal 300 damage per second, as suggested by The Gamer.

9. Blue Fang

(Photo : ArasakaApart via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

You don’t need to finish a quest or anything. All you have to do is go to the melee weapon vendor in Jackson Plains and buy it. It’s a new addition in the Edgerunners update so if you’re replaying the game, you might want to try the knife out.

10. Rayfield Caliburn

(Photo : Dungeongosling via Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki)

One of the best hidden items in the game is the black Caliburn which you’ll find in the tunnel in Rocky Ridge. It’s the same tunnel where you and Panam will shoot it out with Nash the Raffen Shiv. You have to finish the “Ghost Town” quest first and wait a few days before it appears.

To answer that fan question: The cause of death for the Biscuit Lady, Carol Fay Ellison

  • “To answer that fan question” is the part of NashvilleGab where I take the sometimes funny things readers have ended up on the website searching for and actually answer them in a somewhat coherent way.
  • Well now this is an odd thing people are ending up on NashvilleGab searching for. I don’t know if “Carol Fay Ellison’s cause of death” has ended up as some morbid trivia question or what, but for several days this has been a huge search.
  • From what I understand, Carol Fay was on television quite a bit and so I’m thinking maybe an episode of something that she was on has aired and maybe it had an “in memoriam” or something like that and people have suddenly become curious.  Anyway, here goes.
  • I’ve looked and looked and looked some more and I actually can’t find a cause of death for Carol Fay. I never met her personally, but I’ve heard a lot about her. From what I understand, her biscuits at the Loveless Cafe were the yummiest thing this side of heaven
  • The Biscuit Lady died on April 5, 2010, at the age of 48, and was mourned by it seemed everyone — celebrity and normal folk alike. She had been hospitalized for 3-1/2 weeks before she passed away, but that like her death was never explained.
  • Here’s her obituary that was printed in The Tennessean.

Why is News and Interests Taking up Memory? How to Fix It

News and Interests taking up gigabytes of Memory (almost all of RAM) is a concerning issue on Windows 10 and 11 systems. It is a result of memory leaks due to a bug in the program’s coding. Therefore, the app continues using up more memory gradually without freeing it.

Whenever this happens, your computer starts slowing down. Your free storage space may also decrease as the program starts hogging large space for the pagefile after using up the RAM.

Since it’s a memory leak issue in a system process, the only way to properly resolve it is by installing system updates that patch the error.

As of September 2022, Microsoft has not released a permanent solution for this problem. However, until it does, there are a few things you can do to fix it temporarily or bypass the issue.

Table of Contents

How to Fix News and Interests Taking up Memory

Here are some possible solutions you can apply to resolve the above error:

Update Windows

Microsoft has released a cumulative update KB5010415 for Windows 10 on 15th February 2022. This update also includes a temporary fix for this memory leak issue, so you need to install it as soon as possible.

However, it only works on Windows 10, version 1903, and later. Microsoft has already ceased support for all previous builds. So make sure to install the necessary system updates before installing the cumulative update.

Then, you can download and install the update from Microsoft Update Catalog. It is also possible to check for the cumulative update on your Update Settings and install it. To do so,

  1. Open Run and enter ms-settings:windowsupdate to get to this Setting.
  2. Click Check for updates.
  3. After checking, if it lists KB5010415 as an optional update, select Download and install below it.

You can also upgrade to Windows 11 or clean install it as this issue is not present in the Windows 11 version as of the current date.

If your computer lags a lot and brings any issues while updating, you can end the News and Interests process or disable it altogether and then install the update.

End Feeds or News and Interests Process

One way you can resolve this issue temporarily is by killing the News and Interests process.

Doing so only temporarily closes it and it will soon start running again. However, it will still take some time to build up its memory usage to a high value. And you can also carry out the other troubleshooting measures in the meantime.

To end News and Interests or Feeds process, you need to use the Task Manager in the following way:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
  2. If it shows less number of apps with no description, click on More details.
  3. On the processes tab, click on Memory to sort the apps based on memory usage.
  4. Select Feeds or News and Interests and click End Task.

Disable News and Interests

If you don’t use News and Interests altogether, you might as well disable the feature to resolve the error in a more permanent manner. Furthermore, you need to do so anyway if the update KB5010415 didn’t resolve your issue.

You can easily disable this feature on your system from the Taskbar using the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the Taskbar area without any app icons.
  2. Hover over News and Interests and select Turn off.

There are also other ways to disable it, such as using the Local Group Policy Editor and the Registry Editor. To disable it through the Local Group Policy Editor,

  1. Open Run and enter gpedit.msc to open Group Policy editor.
  2. Go to Computer Configuration Administrative Templates Windows Components News and interests.
  3. Search for and double-click on Enable news and interests on the taskbar.
  4. Check Disabled and click OK.
  5. Then, restart your PC to apply the changes.

In Windows Home editions, you can’t access the Group Policy Editor by default. In such cases, you can use the Registry Editor to perform the same task.

  1. Open Run and enter regedit to open the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds
  3. Look for and double-click on ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode.
  4. Set its Value data to 2 and click OK.
  5. Then, restart your Windows Explorer from the Task Manager to apply the changes.

After disabling News and Interests, you may also have to end its task from the Taskbar if it’s still leaking the memory

Gucci joins Ellen MacArthur Foundation as a strategic partner

Italian fashion house Gucci has announced a new strategic partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to accelerate its vision of a circular economy and regenerative agriculture for the future.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation is a charity committed to creating a circular economy that delivers better outcomes for people and the environment and Gucci’s partnership with “further strengthen our commitments to circularity and regenerative agriculture,” said president and chief executive officer Marco Bizzarri in a statement.

The partnership will build on the fashion house’s existing circular economy strategy underlined by the three key principles to eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials, and regenerate nature while expanding the company’s ongoing sustainable initiatives.

“For us, purpose and progress are paramount to the very ethos of Gucci,” added Bizzarri. “We are constantly experimenting and evolving to drive positive impacts in the Gucci community, and in the wider world.”

Gucci to accelerate circular economy and regenerative agriculture

The foundation said that it will support Gucci to “further scale and embed the principles of the circular economy”. The initial collaborative phase efforts include the Italian fashion house’s increasing its collections with circular principles across its products’ life cycle by innovating on products that are “used more, made to be made again, and made from safe and recycled or renewable inputs”.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation added that it will also analyse Gucci’s efforts to help pinpoint areas where circularity can be embedded in the design and inspire creation. It will also provide educational resources and courses to “deepen knowledge and operational know-how of circular economy principles and practices”.

Another key initiative will be to advance regenerative agriculture by providing Gucci with insights to inform and enable the brand to champion and source regeneratively. This builds on Gucci’s investment in regenerative projects that began in 2020, under its Natural Climate Solutions Portfolio, across key raw materials.

Andrew Morlet, chief executive at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Gucci to redesign the future of fashion. Through Gucci’s passion for people and the planet, and the Foundation’s circular economy expertise, we can innovate towards industry-led solutions for fashion designed to be used more, made to be made again, and made from safe and recycled or renewable inputs.

“Shifting towards a circular, regenerative economy for fashion we can help tackle the root causes of global challenges including pollution, climate change, and biodiversity loss.”

Gucci unveils 2021 Gucci Equilibrium Impact Report

The news coincided with Gucci unveiling its 2021 Gucci Equilibrium Impact Report, which summarises the luxury brand’s commitments, progress and action taken to generate positive change for people and the planet while looking toward the future.

Bizzarri said that the second report was a testament to Gucci’s resolve “to continue building a responsible and sustainable business,” and showcases that the label has achieved tangible and measurable results, including reducing its total footprint, increasing employment diversity, and impacting positive social change through its Chime For Change and Gucci Changemakers programmes.

In his letter introducing the report, Bizzarri said: “As we celebrated our 100th anniversary, we also celebrated the continuation of our legacy to experiment and evolve for an ever-changing world. We looked to our past in order to define our future, which we now know is implicitly linked to the future of the planet that we call home.

“Over the last year, our commitments to building a responsible and sustainable business have been just as important as our creative identity. In fact, we see our creativity as our strongest tool for finding new solutions to move forward into a better future.”

Of the progress made by Gucci in 2021, Bizzarri said that he was “especially proud” of the progress on diversity and inclusivity, including gender equality and accessibility. The report notes that Gucci increased employee diversity in corporate and retail and that 58 percent of its female members were in management roles and 42 percent of female members in senior management roles.

“Diversity is an integral part of our culture; it drives creativity and we embrace everyone’s unique qualities,” added Bizzarri.

The report, utilising 2021 data and Gucci’s new Environmental Profit and Loss results, revealed that the fashion house had reduced its total footprint by 49 percent, covering greenhouse gas emissions, water use, air and water pollution, waste and land use. With its greenhouse gas emissions alone dropping by 46 percent since 2015 relative to growth. Gucci also attained 100 percent green energy in 44 of the 49 countries where its stores, corporate locations and factories are located.

Bizzarri also stated that part of Gucci’s vision for “responsible” luxury included transforming the supply chain to give back to nature, not just minimise their impact on it. To do this Gucci will continue to invest in regenerative agriculture, helping farmers transition to regenerative farming and support farming projects for regenerative wool, silk, cotton and linen.

“Regenerative agriculture is a lever for luxury and fashion to help reverse the trajectory of climate change and biodiversity loss, and our ambition is to source regenerative raw materials for our collections in order for us to continue to innovate in design and manufacturing,” explained Bizzarri.
