Indonesia summoned the Swedish ambassador on Tuesday, January 24, in connection with the burning of the Quran by a far-right activist in Stockholm over the weekend, officials in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country said.
Rasmus Paludan’s Anti-Islamic Act

Danish-Swedish politician Rasmus Paludan on Saturday burned a copy of an Islamic holy book outside the Turkish embassy in the Swedish capital, angering Ankara, which said it would not support the Scandinavian country’s NATO membership bid.
Swedish Ambassador to Indonesia Marina Berg was called when Jakarta filed a formal complaint against the anti-Islamic act, Teuku Faizasya, spokesman for the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, told AFP.
βYes, [we will meet her] this week,β Fayzasia said without giving a date.
The Swedish embassy confirmed that Berg will hold a meeting with a representative of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, without specifying when it will take place.
Swedish leaders strongly condemned Paludan’s actions but supported their country’s broad definition of free speech.

Paludan’s burning of the Quran sparked demonstrations outside Swedish legations in several countries, including Turkey and Iraq, where on Monday protesters burned the Swedish flag and injured a policeman and seven protesters.
Ankara on Saturday canceled a visit by Swedish Defense Minister Pal Johnson, scheduled for January 27, after summoning the Swedish ambassador and saying the meeting had “lost its meaning and significance.”
Paludan, who has already been convicted of racist slurs, sparked riots in Sweden last year when he toured the country during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and publicly burned copies of the Quran.
